Instructions for Grownups

Thank you for embarking on the K’ilu Purim Adventure! This interactive audio and play-based experience will help you bring the story of Queen Esther to life at home. Before you begin, here is some information to make sure you are ready for the adventure.

The audio experience is divided into 6 episodes. You can play the story in chapters, or play the whole story as one experience (about 30 minutes).

YOUR KIT COMES WITH:

• Audio tracks that will bring the Purim story to life through music and interactive storytelling. 

• A story map that you’ll use during the audio adventure.

• A Secret Message for Esther activity to complete before your adventure begins.

• A Masquerade Mask to print, color, cut out, and assemble (you’ll need scissors and a chopstick or straw).

• A Party Invitation Prop to print.

• A scavenger hunt list to collect items around your house to use during the audio adventure.

GETTING READY.

Before the holiday starts, here are a few things to do with your child to get ready for the adventure:

1. Set up your Story Space. This should be an open place where you can act out all the parts of the Purim story.

2. Print out the K’ilu Scavenger Hunt, and collect all of the storytelling props. Put them all together in your Story Space.

3. Print out your Secret Message for Esther activity sheet, complete it, and attach it to a chopstick or straw.

4. Print out and construct the Party Invitation Prop and Masquerade Mask.

5. Play the audio adventure. Have a device handy to play the audio tracks so that everyone can hear them. The audio adventure runs about 30 minutes long.

Play along with your child. The adventure will require you to play along, act out the story, and use your imagination along with your kid. The experience will be even more memorable for them if they create the adventure with you.
